Washcloths and dishcloths - 1 day rigid heddle loom weaving workshop.

Weaving is a fun, creative, relaxing and rewarding activity. For this session, there will be a selection of rigid heddle looms for you to use. These will be 'dressed' and ready to go with the vertical wrap threads all set up for you to commence weaving.

Following a quick hands-on demonstration, you can start to weave your very own fabric. Depending on the techniques and materials used, this can be turned into either durable handy dishcloths for washing up, or soft face cloths. They also make great gifts!

During the workshop, you can explore the plain weave structure and simple 'pick-up' techniques. There will be a variety of colours to choose from - in cotton, linen and bamboo fibres. The group will also be shown how the rigid heddle loom is set up using the direct warping method, and how the woven fabrics can be hemmed and finished.

Students will take home a couple of washcloths each.
